Deontay Wilder-Alexander Povetkin set for May 21 in Moscow
WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) will defend his title against mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (30-1, 22 KOs) on May 21 at the Megasport Arena in Moscow, Russia.
Wilder is coming off a devastating 9th round knockout win over Artur Szpilka in January.
The 6'7" American dethroned Bermane Stiverne on points in January 2015 and has defended the belt three times, scoring knockouts each time.
However, they have come against lesser opposition and Povetkin represents his toughest test to date.
Povetkin's only defeat came when he lost a unanimous decision to then world champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2013. Since then, the Russian has scored four wins in a row, stopping Manuel Charr, Carlos Takam, Mike Perez, and Mariusz Wach.
Also on the card, WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (28-2, 21 KOs) will fight IBF titlist Victor Ramirez (22-2-1, 17 KOs) in a unification clash.
