Haye to return June 29
Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is set to make his long awaited return to the ring on June 29.
Haye (26-2), who has not fought since his 5th round stoppage of Dereck Chisora in July, had previously indicated he would only return for a fight against Vitali Klitschko but with the WBC holder undecided about his future, has opted to go for the traditional route to the world title through becoming the mandatory challenger.
His opponent will be high ranked and provide a significant stepping stone towards his ultimate goal of becoming heavyweight champion for a second time.
The British Boxing Board of Control are expected to reinstate his boxing license on completion of a medical and assurances that his future conduct will not bring him in front of the board again.
