Kell Brook to fight Carson Jones again on July 13
Kell Brook (29-0) will return to the ring to face Carson Jones (35-9-3) in a rematch on July 13 at Craven Park in Hull on a card that will also feature the professional debut of Olympic gold medalist Luke Campbell.
Brook was supposed to face IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander this weekend, only for the bout to be postponed for a third time after the Sheffield fighter suffered a foot injury. Alexander has now turned his attentions to Lee Purdy.
But Matchroom confirmed on Wednesday that Brook would end a nine-month absence from the ring against Jones, a little over a year after the pair put on a thriller in Sheffield.
Brook then survived a scare to win his IBF world title eliminator on a narrow points decision, Brook showed himself to be speedier, more technical boxer in the early rounds before Jones dragged him deep late on. The rematch will be highly anticipated.
Top of the bill will be Campbell's eagerly-awaited professional debut, after confirming his switch from amateur to the paid ranks last month and joining Eddie Hearn's promotions company, against an as yet unnamed opponent.
"This is going to be a special night for Hull and a massive night for British boxing," said Hearn.
"The whole city will have a chance to witness the start of Luke's professional journey whilst also watching a huge card. Kell Brook returns after a frustrating period, re-matching Carson Jones following their epic battle last July."
