Nicholas Walters (25-0, 21 KOs) has failed to make weight for his fight against Miguel Marriaga (20-0, 18 KOs) on Saturday night at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, and was stripped of the WBA featherweight title.

Walters, 29, initially weighed in at 127.4 pounds, 1.4 over the 126-pound division limit. The Jamaican puncher nicknamed "The Axe Man", returned to the scale 90 minutes later, but was only able to get down to 127 pounds, so although the fight will still go ahead, if Walters wins, he will no longer retain the title.

Columbian challenger Marriaga, 28, who beat Walters in an amateur bout at a 2008 Olympic qualifying tournament, weighed in at 125.2 pounds so he is eligible to win the vacant belt.
