Simpson faces Choi on Burns undercard
John Simpson (24-9) will face Choi Tseveenpurev (36-6) for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental super featherweight title in Betfair's 'Fighting Pride of Scotland' at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on May 11, live on Sky Sports.
The clash supports Ricky Burn's WBO lightweight title defence against Jose Gonzalez and promoter Eddie Hearn believes it has the hallmarks of a classic.
"This fight has war written all over it and the response already has been incredible," said Hearn."Choi has a real cult following within the game and everyone knows how John likes to fight. Don't blink in this one!"
The former British and Commonwealth champion will be looking to write the final chapter in the career of 41-year-old Choi, who fights for the first time since losing to David Cino Yordan in an IBO title bout last November.
The UK-based Mongolian is best known for his victory in Prizefighter 18 months ago, when he defeated Rhys Roberts in the final of the featherweight tournament.
