Kell Brook-Shawn Porter set for August 9 in New York
Britain's undefeated Kell Brook (34-0, 22 KO’s) will challenge IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KO’s) on August 9 in New York.
Brook, 28, has been waiting for his shot for years and now in just a little over two months will travel Stateside in a bid to topple the 26-year-old American title-holder.
The Yorkshireman was scheduled to face former IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander last year, but Brook suffered a couple of injuries to his feet and ankles resulting in the fight being cancelled.
Since then, Porter outpointed Alexander to take the IBF strap in December and in his first defence he dismantled Paulie Malignaggi in 4 rounds in April.
Brook has stayed busy in beating former WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko in October and Mexican Alvararo Robles in March, knocking them both out to remain on course to challenge for the world title.
