Danny Garcia to headline March 15 show in Puerto Rico
Danny Garcia (27-0) will make the fifth defence of his WBC and WBA light-welterweight titles against Mauricio Herrera (20-3) in Puerto Rico.
Garcia's parents are from the islands and he will fulfill a career-long ambition when he clashes with Herrera in Bayamon on March 15.
It will be a step down in opponent for the Philadelphian after victories over Zab Judah and Lucas Matthysse in 2013.
However, Herrera (20-3) has a stellar victory over hard-hitting Ruslan Provodnikov in 2011 on his ledger and put successive losses a year later behind him with back-to-back wins in 2013.
"Herrera is a good fighter and he beat Provodnikov," Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions told ESPN. "Herrera is very excited about this fight.
"He sees it as a tremendous opportunity and is not worried at all about fighting Danny in Puerto Rico.
"(Danny) is clearly the man at 140 pounds and when you are the man you have a big target on your back.
"Whether Mauricio Herrera will be able to do something about it I don't know. But I do know Mauricio Herrera comes to fight and will be ready."
The same show will see unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder (30-0) take on Malik Scott (36-1-1), while Juan Manuel Lopez (33-3) will clash with Daniel Ponce De Leon (45-5) in a featherweight re-match of their 2008 super-bantamweight bout that saw Lopez win his first world title with an early knockout.
