Dickinson and Ajisafe advance to Maxinutrition Knockout final
Travis Dickinson (17-1 7 KO's) and Bob Ajisafe (13-2 4 KO's) advanced to the final of the Maxinutrition Knockout on Saturday night at Leeds Town Hall.
Dickinson, 26, was dropped three times by spiteful body shots in the fifth round but in what is surely a contender for 'fight of the year', the tough Geordie came roaring back to stop Matty Clarkson in the sixth, with the beaten Preston fighter ending the contest with a suspected broken jaw.
Ajisafe saw off Leon Senior with a fifth-round stoppage. The 29-year-old struggled to settle in the early rounds but a straight left rocked Senior and a sustained barrage on the ropes, with little coming back saw the fight halted. The two have met before with Ajisafe winning on points when they met for the English title back in December 2012.
Also on the card, former world champion Junior Witter scored a fourth round TKO against Arvydas Trizno of Lithuania to take his record to 43-7-2, 23 KO's.
American heavyweight 'Fast' Eddie Chambers (39-4, 21 KO's) - who unsuccessfully challenged world champion Wladimir Klitschko back in 2010 - forced 22 stone Carl Baker to retire at the end of the third round.
