Hall-Malinga to fight on December 21 for vacant IBF title
British bantamweight contender Stuart Hall (15-2-1) will challenge for the vacant IBF bantamweight title against South Africa's Vusi Malinga (21-4-1) at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on December 21.
This comes after Jamie McDonnell was stripped of the IBF strap when the Doncaster man failed to agree a fight with mandatory challenger Malinga within the time frame that had been advised and therefore the title was declared vacant.
An appeal lodged by promoter Eddie Hearn to overturn the IBF's decision to strip McDonnell of the title has been unsuccessful.
Darlington boxer Hall has bounced back from defeats to McDonnell and Lee Haskins to beat Josh Wale to win the Commonwealth belt and then put himself in prime position for his dream world title fight by defeating Sergio Perales to win the IBF Inter-Continental title in May.
Malinga has already had one shot at the IBF belt, losing to Leo Santa Cruz last year.
