Josh Warrington to face Dennis Tubieron in WBC eliminator
Josh Warrington (19-0, 3 KOs) will fight Dennis Tubieron (19-3-2, 8 KOs) in an WBC featherweight title eliminator at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on April 11.
The 24 year- old will be aiming to continue the fine form he showed in beating Samir Mouniemne, Rendall Munroe, Martin Lindsay and Davide Dieli, when he takes on Tubieron of the Philippines in his home town as he looks to pick up the vacant WBC international crown and move a step closer to an opportunity to fight for the WBC 126-pound title, currently held by Mexico's Jhonny Gonzalez.
Warrington travels to Berlin for a tune-up bout against an opponent to be determined on the undercard of Paul Smith’s super-middleweight world title rematch against Arthur Abraham on February 21.
Tubieron, 25, is coming off a majority draw with Carlo Magali in an action-packed encounter in the Philippines in December.
The April 11 card will also feature former light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly against an opponent to be determined.
The Welshman will be returning to the light heavyweight division following a points defeat to Tony Bellew at cruiserweight in November.
Super featherweight Martin J Ward will have a rematch with Maxi Hughes in a British title eliminator following their exciting draw at the end of 2014.
British light-heavyweight champion Bob Ajisafe will also feature on the card.
