Kell Brook to face Vyashaslev Senchenko in October
British contender Kell Brook (30-0) will take on former WBA welterweight champion Vyashaslev Senchenko (33-1) at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on October 26, it has been confirmed.
Promoter Eddie Hearn had originally pencilled in a September date for Brook's return to the ring but Senchenko reportedly wanted more time to prepare for the non-title fight.
Senchenko previously held the WBA 147lbs title before losing it to Paulie Malignaggi, however the Ukrainian stopped former light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton in his last outing.
Senchenko had previously suffered the first defeat of his career to Malignaggi but stopped Hatton in the ninth round of the home fighters comeback fight at the Manchester Arena last November.
The 36-year-old is seen as the ideal test for Brook at this stage of his career as he awaits his turn as mandatory challenger for the IBF title, currently held by Devon Alexander.
"I'm delighted to make this fight and feel it's the perfect fight for Kell at this time," said promoter Eddie Hearn.
"It's without doubt his sternest test yet and Senchenko brings credibility as a former world title holder and mass appeal after his KO win over Ricky Hatton.
"We are going to put on a special show in Sheffield and the atmosphere will be electric."
Brook has seen three dates with Alexander fall by the wayside this year due to injury on both sides, with the American now set to face Amir Khan later this year.
It is likely that Brook will face the winner of that fight next spring.
