Liam Smith to defend WBO belt against Predrag Radosevic on June 4
WBO light middleweight champion Liam Smith (22-0-1, 12 KOs) will defend his title against Predrag Radosevic (30-1, 11 KOs) on June 4 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.
The Liverpudlian knocked out American John Thompson to claim the vacant WBO belt in October, and he defended it when he stopped fellow Brit Jimmy Kelly in December. Next he takes on Radosevic, of Montenegro, whose only defeat came against Felix Sturm in 2013.
“It’s a good fight for me,” said Smith. “He’s a good solid European fighter - a bit like an Arthur Abraham and has only lost to a good Felix Sturm at middleweight so it's a solid defence for me. He’s spent most of his career at middleweight.
“It’s a good voluntary. People might think it’s not a big name but when you look at it properly it’s a good fight. This is certainly a step up from Jimmy Kelly, if you look at the class he has mixed in.
"He's orthodox and he'll come to fight - anyone who knows me will tell you that's what I like. I don't want to be chasing a big, awkward southpaw around the ring. I want a fight that people will enjoy."
