Mayweather asks fans to vote whether his next fight should be against Khan or Maidana
Floyd Mayweather (45-0, 26 KO’s) has asked his fans on Twitter to vote on whether his next fight should be against Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO) or Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO).
Khan signed a contract in December that put him in line for a possible super-fight with Mayweather this year, but the former Olympic silver medalist is still waiting to find out if he will face the unbeaten world light-middleweight champion.
A bout on May 3 in Las Vegas has been mooted as a possibility, but the Briton is not the only contender for Mayweather, with Argentine Maidana also an option for the 36-year-old American.
Maidana, who lost on points to Khan in 2011, scored a unanimous decision victory over highly touted American Adrien Broner to claim the WBA welterweight title in December.
Now the pound-for-pound world No 1 has sought the opinion of fans, writing on his Twitter account: "I'm going to let the fans vote. Tell me who I should fight next. Khan or Maidana?"
