Ruenroeng outpoints Casimero
IBF flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng (16-0, 5 K0s) outpointed challenger John Riel Casimero (21-3, 13 KOs) of the Philippines on Saturday night at the Indoor Stadium at the National Sport Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.
It was a dirty fight with lots of wrestling and takedowns.
Ruenroeng landed jabs and quick counters to pile up the points. Whenever Casimero got close and tried to land punches, Ruenroeng held on to him.
The Thai fighter scored knockdowns in the second and seventh. Casimero appeared to knock Ruenroeng down in the third but the referee ruled it a slip.
After holding and shoving throughout, Ruenroeng was finally deducted a point in the eleventh but it did not make a difference and the champion retained by scores of 116-107, 113-112 and 115-107.
