Selby becomes the latest to join Matchroom
British and Commonwealth featherweight champion Lee Selby has become the latest fighter to sign with Matchroom.
Having recently added George Groves and Ricky Burns to his stable, Eddie Hearn has cofirmed the Welshman will make his debut on April 20 in Blackpool on the Brian Rose-Joachim Alcine undercard live on Sky Sports possibly against Joe Murray.
Selby (14-1) is then set to co-headline in Cardiff alongside new stable-mate Garvin Rees when he could fight for the European title against Alexander Miskirtchian.
Hearn said "we have signed some big names in the last few weeks but this one makes me very excited as Lee is one of the most talented and exciting fighters in Britain. This kid is going to become a world champion, it's a bold statement but that's our aim. we want to build him into a superstar just like we've done with Kell Brook, Tony Bellew and Carl Frampton."
Selby, who in his most recent fight beat Martin Lindsay on points in Belfast last month, said "I'm very excited and I think it's my time to shine, I think I can become world champion. I'm a confident guy. You can put me in with Vitali Klitschko and I'd be confident that I could beat him, that's just my attitude."
The only defeat on Selby's 15 fight record came on points over four rounds to Samir Mouneimne in 2009.
