Hopkins wants Froch next if he beats Kessler
IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (53-6-2) wants Carl Froch to defeat Mikkel Kessler in their super middleweight unification rematch on May 25 because the veteran American wants to fight him after that.
"Froch is top of my wish list. I have great respect for him as a fighter. He is very exciting and our styles would make for a great fight. I will happily go over to the UK to make it happen but of course Carl will have to beat Kessler first. I am rooting for him to do it and I think he will this time," Hopkins said.
Hopkins would even face Froch before WBO light heavyweight chamion Nathan Cleverly.
"Cleverly is a posssibility later this year but Froch is my preference if we can get it made."
Hopkins has a mandatory defence of his IBF title on July 13 against Karo Murat.
