Anthony Joshua blasted out Italian Emanuele Leo (8-1) after two minutes and 47 seconds of his pro debut on Saturday night at the O2 Arena, London.

In the opening round Joshuha got to work straight away with his jab and then connected with several right hands which soon had Leo on unsteady legs as the Londoner let go his big punches.

A crisp right sent Leo stumbling backwards then Joshua crushed the Italian with a combination which sent him crashing to the canvas and the referee immediately waved off the fight.

After his first-round win the 23-year-old will be back in action in Sheffield on October 26.

Scott Quigg (26-0-2) retained his WBA super bantamweight title with a majority draw decision against Cuba's Yoandris Salinas (20-0-2).

The judges scored it 114-114, 114-114 and 115-113 in favour of Quigg.

There can be no arguing with the outcome in this close fight because it took Quigg more than half of the fight to find a way past the skilfull Cuban's jab.

Quigg, 24, defended his belt for the first time having been awarded the vacant WBA 'regular' title before the fight.

The Cuban started strongly and had Quigg on the end of his left jab but Quigg raised the tempo in the 4th landing a decent right hand and worked well to the body in the 5th.

Salinas jabbed well in the 6th to dictate the round and after a scrappy 7th were both men struggled to land clean punches, Quigg took control of the fight in the 8th with lots of hooks to the body and he landed some crisp combinations in the 9th. The Bury man continued to work the body hammering hooks into Salinas' ribs in the 10th.

The two traded punches in the 11th but Quigg pressed the action in the 12th and landed a hurtful hook that unsettled Salinas. Quigg did fall to the canvas but it was correctly ruled a slip.

Two-time world title challenger Kevin Mitchell (35-2) continued his comeback with a 6th round stoppage of Mexican Marco Lopez (23-3) to pick up the IBF Inter-Continental lightweight title.
