Terence Crawford set to defend belt against Dierry Jean on October 24
WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (26-0, 18 KOs) will defend his belt against Dierry Jean (29-1, 20 KOs) on October 24 in his home town of Omaha, Nebraska at the CenturyLink Center.
Crawford had previously held the WBO lightweight title and in spectacular form scored dominant wins over Ricky Burns, Yuriorkis Gamboa, and Ray Beltran before relinquishing the belt and moving up to 140 pounds.
He then stopped Thomas Dulorme in the 6th round to win the vacant WBO title, and will be making his first defence against Canadian contender Jean, who has won his last four fights since his only defeat, a competitive points loss to then IBF champion Lamont Peterson in January 2014.
Jean is a good fighter and will keep the champion busy before Crawford moves on to more lucrative fights and a possible match-up with Manny Pacquiao in early 2016.
